About Garber Electric

A Local Electrical Contractor With a Broader Approach

Garber Electric LLC is a small, family-run electrical contractor based in rural Two Rivers, Wisconsin. We serve homeowners, businesses, and farms throughout Manitowoc, Kewaunee, and Brown Counties and surrounding Northeast Wisconsin communities.

We provide traditional electrical services, but we also enjoy working with the systems that go along with them—generators, controls, networking, low-voltage equipment, preventative maintenance and thermal imaging programs.

For us, electrical work is about more than getting power from one point to another. We want to understand how the customer uses the system, what problem needs to be solved, and what may be needed in the future.

How I Got Into Electrical Work

My path into the electrical trade actually started with welding.

I welded for a few years before realizing it wasn't what I wanted to do long term. I then started an electrical apprenticeship with a large electrical contractor.

I will always give that company a lot of credit for how well they trained their apprentices. That apprenticeship training really showed when it came time to take my state license examinations. I became a Journeyman Electrician in 2020 and a Master Electrician in 2024. I've now been working in the electrical trade for more than ten years. I had the chance to work in healthcare, heavy industrial, and maritime electrical applications, which exposed me to a wide range of electrical systems.

One of the things I still enjoy most about electrical work is the variety. There is always another system to understand or another problem to figure out.

Why I Started Garber Electric

After earning my Master Electrician license, I decided to start Garber Electric.

I've always enjoyed learning about business, and I also saw a need for electrical work that goes beyond basic lights and receptacles.

Sometimes a small device, control, or change to a system can make someone's home, business, or farm easier to operate. Those are often some of the projects I enjoy the most.

I like looking at the whole system and asking:

What is the customer trying to accomplish?

What is causing the problem?

Is there a better way to do it?

And is there anything we can do now that will make future upgrades easier?

We don't believe every project needs to be complicated. We just believe it is worth understanding the system before deciding on the best solution.

That is what we mean when we describe Garber Electric as an electrical systems specialist as well as an electrical contractor.

Agricultural Roots

Agricultural work is also something I enjoy.

I grew up on a small farm and worked on a dairy farm throughout school. Farming is hard work, but I always appreciated how many different systems a farmer has to understand just to keep an operation running every day.

Motors, ventilation, water, controls, grain equipment, refrigeration, generators, and electrical distribution can all depend on each other.

That experience helps shape how I look at agricultural electrical work today. When an important piece of equipment goes down on a farm, the rest of the work doesn't stop with it.

Helping Customers Understand Their Electrical Systems

Another part of the job I enjoy is explaining how something works.

Electrical systems can be confusing if you don't work with them every day. I don't think customers should have to understand electrical theory just to understand the options for their project.

That's one reason we created the Garber Electric Resource Center.

It answers common questions about residential, commercial, agricultural, low-voltage, generators, and thermal imaging services we offer.

If you don't see your question answered, ask us. We appreciate the questions brought to us, and if it's something you have a question that others may be wondering about too. We are always looking to add information to our Resource Center to help customers understand.

A Small Family Business

Garber Electric is currently run by my wife and myself.

I handle the electrical side of the business, and she helps with the day-to-day operations and growing the company. She doesn't come from an electrical background, but we both enjoy business and the challenge of building a small company together.

Being a small business also means we're directly involved in the work and the decisions that shape the company.
